Description: Deschutes County Depth to Groundwater. The groundwater table ranking system used to create this map was developed as an estimate of where shallow groundwater tables are, to analyze past mistakes and where future development may occur. The ranking system is based on past water observations and site eveluation work. Where there have been many water table observations and site evaluations, the information will be more accurate. The ranking system is not a site evaluation or a substitute for a site evaluation; a site evaluation must be completed to determine if the site is acceptable for a septic system. As more site evaluations are completed and more groundwater data is gathered, the rankings will change to reflect the new data.
